Toronto Did Well As A Host; My NBA All Star 2016

After a year of excitement the 2016 NBA All Star Weekend held in Toronto was finally here! Although my planning could have been better, I still had a great time; I met great people, I was confident, and went to great events. C/O my IG for other pics @itscjolie

Thursday: I started off my weekend at the Jordan Brand Invitational game which featured two American High Schools and 2 Canadian High Schools. For the first game, Henry Carr (Toronto) faced off with Redondo Union (Cali). Carr being one of the most consistent dominant schools in Toronto couldn’t hold off the defense and athleticism of Redondo taking the loss 73-97. The 2nd game featured a face off between Orangeville Prep (Orangeville) and Oak Hill Academy (VA). Both teams were extremely skilled but Oak Hill took the win 77-67.

Melo came by to show his alma mater support, as well as Quinn Cook.

SO4 SO3 Following the game, I went to show my friend Lily support at her Souled Out music showcase at Revival. I enjoyed the energy of the performers I watched. After that I went to Brassaii for a kickoff party hosted by Andre Drummond, Kelly Olynck, Dwight Powell, & Jonas. The young rising stars in the league such as D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Nerlens Noel, Karl Townes, and more stopped by as well. The kickoff party was put together by Rozaay Management. asw1 Friday: I went to the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge game and the atmosphere was great, I really was hoping for an OT ’cause all the young stars truly displayed their talents. If World took the win Kristaps would have been MVP but since USA won, Zach Lavine got a much deserved MVP. I was planning to party hop this night but it didn’t work out, so I ended up at BLND TGER for my friend Keyz birthday celebration.

Saturday: This was an eventful day. I started off working at an NBA newsmakers breakfast at 6am, off no sleep but it was a short shift so I survived. After a quick rest I headed over to New Era where Kelt Crenshaw and Vegas Jones were debuting their “Cashmere Thoughts” collection in collaboration with New Era. Awesome event, I met some people I look up to in my industry. Following the New Era pop up, I went to the infamous SooButter day party where Jazz Cartier was performing, this party was put together by TwentyOne Media Group. I ended off my night at Muzik with my friends Tasha, Audrey, and Sabrina, who organized our table. DJ Whoo Kidd was playing at Muzik that night!

Sunday: After a busy Saturday, I had to gather the energy to get up and go to the Mitchell & Ness brunch hosted by Kenny Burns with music being spun by DJ Baby Yu. I’m glad I managed to go because everyone I met there was worth it. Don C and OT Genasis are some of the people that stopped by the brunch. After the brunch, my friend Audrey and I watched the game by the arena at Hotel Germain; it was all great vibes and we met more great people there, including Nick Storm who I look up to. After that we ended our night at Maison Mercer for the Toronto edition of LIV on Sunday. I mustered the courage to go say hi to Headliner Market Group’s Mike Gardiner and Phil the Mayor at the party.

Monday: It wasn’t over just yet lol. I officially ended my weekend at Stori bar with my new friends from London, England.

Can’t wait for next year in Charlotte!
