Andrew Nicholson gives back w/ his Annual 44Hoops Camp!

The Orlando Magic and Mississauga native Andrew Nicholson hosted his 2nd 44Hoops skills camp July 6-July 10th, 2015. The skills camp took place at his old high school Father Goetz with many kids ages 7-16 looking to develop their skills as basketball players.

I went on Wednesday the 8th; the vibe was awesomeย and brought me back to the days of when I used to go to house league and skills training camps in order to get better at basketball as well. These kids were ready to work but also had a lot of fun! The coaches, including Andrew Nicholson did an awesome job of guiding the kids plus reminding them it’s all about developing and challenging themselves as rising players.

When the kids were asked what they learned they said: on ball screens, screen and roll, not to get postered by Andrew, creating space, and step back footwork. Salute to the parents who invest in the future of their kids!

I got a chance to ask Amir (a coach) and Andrew on running the 44Hoops Camp.

itscjolie: What’s excites you the most about running a skills camp?

coach Amir: Seeing the improvement of the kids over the week, seeing how much fun they’re having. I think the kids get excited about playing with an NBA player and getting dunked on (Andrew dunked right when he mentioned that).

Andrew Nicholson:ย Giving the kids an opportunity to be successful on and off the court.
